Preventive Care Tailored to Your Horse's Needs
Preventing illness before it happens is very important to your horse's long-term health. Rather than deliver the same preventive care to all of our horse patients, we are committed to establishing a plan that is just right for your horse, taking into account your horse's working schedule and stable environment.
We will tailor a specific vaccination and deworming schedule that is unique for your horse and farm.
Equine Deworming
We will base your horse's deworming program on the environment your horse lives in. Whether your horse lives in a stall, a paddock, or multi-horse pasture, we can tailor a program to fit your horse's needs. Periodic fecal egg counts can be done, if needed, to determine your horse's parasite load.
Equine Vaccinations
Vaccinations are an essential tool in protecting your horse, and the local equine community, from disease. While we always develop a vaccination plan that is specific to each horse we treat, below are some of the core vaccines we may recommend:
- Tetanus
- Eastern/Western equine encephalomyelitis (EEE and WEE)
- West Nile virus (WNV)
- Equine influenza
- Rhinopneumonitis (EHV-1 and EHV-4)
- Strangles
- Rabies
We recommend that you contact us if you have any questions about your horse's preventive care or to schedule a visit from one of our veterinarians. Your horse's good health is our first priority.
